Summer is in full swing and isn’t it sweet? Families going on vacations and spending time with each other and just being with one another.
Often during funerals, I tell people that the word for compassion, literally in Latin, means to suffer with another person. It’s the reason why words aren’t enough during these moments but simply to be present and be with another - to share another’s pain.
The same can be true of sharing in another’s joy. And God most certainly wants that. He wants us to be joyful - with one another. To enjoy one another’s company. It’s the reason why in the Gospel today that Jesus takes his disciples away to a deserted place to share in the joy of prayer with each other. To share in the Lord’s rest.
Summer is that time for us. It should be. So enjoy one another. Go on vacation and share in the Lord’s rest with one another. No words are necessary. Just resting in the sweet love of God.
May the Lord give you His peace,
