This weekend’s readings….It's all about LOVE!  AND WE KNOW GOD IS LOVE!

“You must love your neighbor as yourself”—is lifted from Leviticus (Lev 19:18).

We are brothers and sisters in Christ in the family of our faith, in the family of Visitation.  St. Thérèsa of the Child Jesus, (the Little Flower) the saint of love, showed how all things with great love, even the simplest of things.  Picking up a piece of trash, picking up a toy, picking up after a it with great love.  Don't grumble.

Loving God is on equal footing of Loving our neighbor.  Who is our neighbor?  Our spouse, our children, our parents, our actual physical neighbor, someone who crosses our path in the supermarket, our coworker.  "Our love of neighbor mirrors our love of God. Jesus, mind you, was not asked for two great laws, but he gave two as one. The entire will of God and purpose of our life is to love God with our whole being and our neighbors as ourselves."   Fr. John F. Kavanaugh.

A frequently used scripture passage from wedding Masses is 1Cor. 13.  Let’s take a closer look this week into who or what is love? Love is patience. It is kindness. It is not jealous or conceited, rude or selfish.  It does not take offense, nor is it resentful. It is always ready to trust, to excuse, and to endure whatever comes.  Now, try putting your name in...are you patient? kind, not jealous...???  A good practice to get into is to daily examine your conscience, review your day.  Use 1Cor. 13 to help guide your nightly review.  Ask for forgiveness for the times you weren’t patient, kind or when you were boastful, etc...Ask for the graces necessary to be patient, kind, etc…, next time you are faced with a challenge.
