Message from our Pastor

Posted on April 26, 2020 in: Pastor

Dear Friends,

We are not yet out of the woods in terms of ‘flattening the curve’ of this deadly Coronavirus, but the results of so many of us practicing social distancing is noticed as having a positive effect:  so we must keep up our good efforts & not slack off too soon, else we are faced with another wave of this awful pandemic.

We remain unable to gather more than 10 persons together in any space, which is why our Eucharistic adoration has been moved from the tiny convent chapel to our much more spacious Lower Church, temporarily no longer 24/7 but for now from 8 am. until 8 pm.  As you may know, we are FaceBook livestreaming our Visi weekend Mass on Saturday afternoon so that it is available to our folks who frequented the Saturday evening Vigil Mass & then it is posted on our website on the Vimeo platform—for those who don’t have access to FaceBook.

Beginning next weekend, Saturday, May 2nd, we will no longer welcome adorers or other parishioners to be physically present in the Lower Church for the celebration of the weekend Mass at 1 pm.  I fully appreciate & understand the yearning & desire to be there with us & sacramentally receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist; but as some of our folks are catching on about when we do this, they are arriving just in time to participate in the celebration of the Mass.  Last Saturday we accidentally surpassed the maximum number of 10 people present within the Lower Church & so I must regretfully prevent this from reoccurring.

From 12 pm. noon until 2 pm. each Saturday, in order to allow for the livestreaming of the weekend Mass in the Lower Church, it will be closed to all except the ministers of the Mass (celebrant, deacon, cantor, lectors) as well as the camera guys responsible for the transmission of the liturgy.  Eucharistic adoration will move to the Upper Church on Saturdays from 12 pm. noon until 2 pm., when it will be transferred back to the Lower Church.  Thank you for your understanding with this & also for your cooperation so that we may continue bringing you the Holy Mass each weekend live from Visitation, BVM Lower Church.  May God bless us as we strive to keep ourselves healthy, safe & well!
