Proclaim the Good News

We are very excited about our Catholic Faith and Evangelization.

Evangelization means sharing our faith with others. Being able to tell other people how good God has been in your life. To be able to see God’s Hand in all that we do and witness that to others.

How can we as Catholics evangelize?

Evangelization means...

Everything we do should spread the Good News.

Vibrant responses to Gospel values.

Active members of our church.

New life in Jesus.

Good News, God loves us.

Enthusiastic Catholics willing to share our faith.

Living the faith of our Baptism more openly.

Inviting others to full and active church membership.

Zeal for the spread of the Good News.

Awareness of God's presence in our lives.

Transforming our society.

Including all people in our invitation to discipleship.

Ongoing conversion.

Neighborhood workplace, and family are places where God's love is shared.

Twelve Everyday STEPS to Evangelization

How can we as Catholics evangelize? In our everyday lives there are many opportunities. In fact, many of us are already evangelizers but we don't realize it. The following steps are helpful ways in which we can easily share our faith.

Help people. Take a cake to a new neighbor, send a short note to cheer someone, spend time with someone who is homebound.

Count your blessings. Realize the "good news in your life".

Talk simply about your faith with friends, neighbors, and family. Share what the Lord is doing in your life.

Know your faith. Subscribe to a Catholic magazine, read The Catholic Standard & Times, attend a parish or Archdiocesan workshop.

Recommend or give inspirational books or musical tapes or CD's as gifts.

Smile a lot! Be cheerful, positive and enthusiastic about your life. This reflects your faith.

Develop a welcoming attitude. Invite others to Mass, adult education, support groups or social functions at your parish.

Express sincere concern for others. Share their joy and share their burdens. Let them know you are praying for them.

Seize the moment! Take simple opportunities to share the good news of God in whatever situation you find yourself.

Forgive someone who has hurt you, a neighbor who is "nasty", a competitor in business, an estranged family member.

Celebrate your faith with you family. Pray at meal time. Begin family traditions to celebrate the seasons of the church year.

Involve others in your faith community. Invite someone new to participate in an activity in which you are involved. Introduce yourself to someone new at mass.

Evangelization is a simple journey if we take it "step by step".

Prayer for Catholic Evangelization

Loving God,
you called each by name
and gave your only Son to redeem us.
In your faithfulness,
you sent the Holy Spirit
to complete the mission of Jesus among Us.
Open our hearts to Jesus.
Give us the courage to speak this name
to those who are close to us
and the generosity to share his love
with those who are far away.
We pray that every person
throughout the world
be invited to know and love Jesus
as Savior and Redeemer.
May they come to know his all-surpassing love.
May that love transform every element of our
society.
We make this prayer through
Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. AMEN.
Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.
